Parents are you curious about the math your children are working on in their respective classrooms? If so Everyday Math offers a great resource for parents to check in on the work students are completing in each unit. The Everyday Math Parent Letter explains how you too can use your childs login to EM Online (eSuite) to gain access to a variety of helpful resources.
Every elementary student in the district is provided with a username and password in order to login to Everyday Math Online. Parents can use this same login to access Home Connections, Games & Practice, and Checking In.
Home Connections allows for parents to see Family Letters which contain unit information and Home/Study Link answers. It also provides an area where students and parents can access a PDF of the nightly homework assignment. Another feature of the Home Connections is the Interactive Student Reference Book (Comes in English and Spanish), this is a very useful tool for assisting with homework, or for gaining an understanding to what your child did in class. There are also Do Anytime Activities that are suggested for you to do with your child and Algorithm Animations. These are short narrated clips of how to solve problems involving various operations (They show EM Methods and US Traditional Methods). These also come in both English and Spanish.
The Games & Practice section offers Parents the chance to print a PDF of the game boards that are used in class. It also provides links to the EM Onling Games as well. Additionally, there are Fact Workshop and Fact Dash games offered depending on the lesson.
There is also a section called Checking In. This section will let you know what assignments are coming up or due. However, this will only be activated if your scholars classroom teacher uses this feature.
As a parent you can scroll through each unit of study and select the given lesson your student is concentrating on and the content provided for each section mentioned above will adapt to assist you. This is an extremely useful and beneficial tool. Please be sure to inquire with your child as to what his or her username and password are. If they are not sure, please ask the classroom teacher. Every student in SPS is entitled to a username and password, which the classroom teacher can quickly create and provide.
