CEMSE Student Questionnaires
Stamford Public Schools is working with the University of Chicago's Center for Elementary Math and Science Education (CEMSE) to collect data on student input regarding math and science instruction. Students in grades three to five across the district are being provided the opportunity to complete questionnaires regarding the implementation of the math and science programs.
These questionnaires are being completed online in each of the 12 elementary school buildings. Students have now until January 15th, 2013 to complete the questionnaires. Each questionnaire takes approximately 20 minutes to be completed. The student questionnaires focus on individual student experiences and participation. These questionnaires are multiple choice questions that are in no way any type of assessment.
Later in the spring of 2013, students from grades three to five at various schools will also have the opportunity participate in focus groups. These focus groups will ask students questions about the curriculum and their experiences with it.
The people from CEMSE who will collect, review, and share reports from these data collections are not Everyday Math developers. They are simply researchers, however, some of the information collected may contribute to inform future improvements of the Everyday Math curriculum.
If you have any queestions pertaining to the CEMSE data collection please feel free to contact me.
